I was returning home for Diwali from Delhi.I reached Chennai by train and I was to take another train to Coimbatore.By coincidence ,my friend Roshit, who was my cubicle mate in TCS was also travelling by same train and to our surprise we were in opposite seats.I should say it was a "Happy Coincidence",although I knew about this a day before our journey.Anyways it had been fun always with Roshit and I was looking forward for it.I met Roshit at Chennai central and together we made our way towards our coach.Roshit was in his usual stuff, a huge bag containing clothes which has not been washed for months and of course his ever sarcastic nonsense talk.As the train moved forward,we started travelling backwards to our days(in fact its my days,he is still there) in TCS .
Roshit joined my project team exactly three weeks after I joined.I knew about Roshit before.I heard that he was a "nerd" who knew Java and many other software stuff. And in two days I found out the reality. He was in the same boat as I-knew nothing(that was a saddistic pleasure). We started our days in that project in the same cubicle - shared by a total of 6 people. Our cubicle was the center of our module and Roshit was always in trouble, getting caught by the supervisors for doing everything other than work.In a few days we were shifted to another cubicle-this time at one corner of the module and the fun began
Our new cubicle was a smaller one - only for 2.We really enjoyed the exclusivity. It was definitely the hot spot of our module .No one can see what is going on there, even if u r there or not. That was the place for my entire CAT and GD/PI preparation.I never prepared anything beyond office hours. That was the type of place for Rosh, who loved watching IBN live videos, playing Flash cricket and even match highlights during the office hours. Not only that,we used to make
countless calls from the office phone. He used to talk for hours as if it was his own connection. And our cube was the place for all fun, team meetings, onsite calls, useless talks. It was the snacks bar of our team, watever snacks we bring we eat it there. It was also the newspaper reading place for many of my module mates. We had two boards for taking notes and his board contained all crap.We used to get magazines, books etc and arrange them for reading in free time.We used to call our cubicle as "Den".After I had given my resignation,I was literally jobless for the last two months and here goes my schedule..will reach at 9 am after having breakfast in canteen, will go again with Rosh for his Breakfast at 10,come back and go for tea with my other friends at 11,another tea break with rosh at 11.30,lunch with my friends at 1,again company for Rosh at 2.30,tea with my friends at 5,again for tea with Rosh at 5.30 and will vanish from there..in between I will be roaming around in library, table tennis room(wher Rosh lived) and in other areas of the office..This was my schedule in last two months. For Rosh this was the schedule for most of the days of the last one and half years
Every moment with Roshit was fun. That cubicle was the place where our friendship grew into a strong bond.We came back to the present as the train moved slowly towards Salem, wher Roshit was supposed to get down.I felt a bit sad,but we knew we will meet again. We great friends and still hate each other as we do always.Rosh ,this blog is dedicated to u..though u r going criticize it in ur usual inimitable style
It was a great journey, not just thru the tracks but also thru time.
