Black Friday

It was our third year in the college. We wanted to do something different…And our guys came up with a wonderful idea-to get similar T-shirts printed for all the guys in our class which gives us a unique identity(Though the idea was adopted from our seniors!)This idea seemed good and everyone agreed…We had a brain storming session to decide the design for the T- Shirt. Each one came up with a different idea. There was some “dialectical materialism” in the process..Finally we agreed upon the design-the T –Shirt should be black in color(symbolizing opposition),it will have a demon or a devil’s picture at the back(with studs for the eyes of the demon!),the wordings at the back should be “We are known for the rules we break”(coined by Biju the great),in the arms of the shirt the words BOES, which stands for Best of Electrical Students(We called ourselves that way-no one accepted it though!!) should be present and so on..…Now we had to give a name for our group so that we can inscribe it in the front side of our T shirt. So that night myself,Balu and Sakthi went to the library for some literary survey and referred dictionaries and encyclopedias(which we had never opened before) to get a name for the group.Since we had decided to have name it in two words we got various words from dictionary and in the hostel we tried out various combinations of words and arrived at 5 best names. We decided to hav a voting in class to decide the name.Next day was the election day for selecting our name.Balu conducted the elections and based on the opinions we selected the name ‘Satanic Saviors’ for our group….The order for the T shirt was given at Tirupur-the textile town and in few days we got our new T shirt..We guys were just too proud to possess it.We decided that we should wear it on a Friday and chose the date as July 23-2004.The D-day arrived. We were all ready to rock the department…We went in our Satanic Saviors T shirt..We christened the day as BOES day..We were in a festive mood.Everyone in the college saw us.No one from faculty or admin asked us anything…We went around the college, posing for photographs with pride. We had great fun that day.We felt as though we had created a coup d’etat of some sort…The reaction to our revolution was evident the next working day….The notice board read “T shirts of all kinds banned in the college”….We said proudly “We are not just known for the rules we break. We were also known for the rules we make”……….

PS:We also faced enquiry for this matter….Not telling about that in detail

Thoughts will flow……

Cheers,
Barath

I've never heard about this tradition before. I think we should make such a tradition in our college, too!

I think Black Friday is traditionally the most popular night for office Christmas parties. As a result it has gained a reputation as one of the busiest nights of the year for restaurants, public houses, and, as a result, the emergency services.

What do you think, because Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, the day after occurs between the 23rd and the 29th of November.

Making rules is not for me...I'm the person, who can only follow the rules and make no changes and no influence on life...
